FAQ's (Frequently Asked Question)

“ OUR HERITAGE - FOR POSTERITY ” We Care . Is there a message in the logo and the name?

Yes, there most certainly is a very clear message. We have inherited the planet earth from our ancestors…not for ourselves....but for our future generations. Humanity often tends to forget this fact and hence the logo ‘our heritage - for posterity’. The name “We Care” suggests that we at We Care, care for this heritage and understand that – and wish to make aware the entire human race about this –heritage.

What are the main areas of concern of We Care ?

We at We Care are very concerned about many issues – both Political and Geographical. However, for the moment, we have limited ourselves to three main issues –
1. Environment & Pollution
2. Education
3. Health

Under Environment, what are the important issues that We Care considers to be of special significance ?

Environment is a field as vast as the planet and has many facets. Each facet is as important as the other, but because of our limitations, those facets that are of special concern are –
1. River Pollution
2. Ground water management & Rain water Harvesting
3. Polythene
4. Global warming

Does We Care have a plan to tackle the problem of river Pollution ?

Yes, We Care does have a plan. Due to constant monitoring by the Supreme Court, Industries are no longer the major polluters of major rivers. How ever,
1. The pollution levels to be monitored, specially during lean seasons, when water levels in rivers are low
2. The nature of the pollutant would indicate the industry responsible.
3. The report released to the Media if industry does not take corrective measures.
4. Create Pressure groups
5. Ultimately, if all else fails, take recourse to law, by filing a public interest litigation, in the High Court or Supreme Court.

It is the Municipality and corporations on the one hand and the public, on the other that are really responsible for the pollution in the major rivers
To educate the public in both the urban and rural areas-

For the Urban Public
1. Holding Seminars especially in schools and colleges to generate awareness.
2. Generating awareness through Media by way of advertisements in News Papers and electronic Media.
3. Making Documentaries and showing on the electronic media and Cinema halls.

For the Rural Public
1. Hold seminars in rural schools
2. Educate the Sarpanch and the members of the Panchayat.
Educating the rural public is important as it is these people who migrate to the cities and because of their lack of knowledge of basic hygiene cause much pollution in rivers and elsewhere.

As for the Municipalities and Corporations, these are run by political parties and beurocrats.
1. Create vigilant groups to monitor that no drainage/sewage water is let into the river without treatment.
2. Create pressure groups to pressurize the political party in power to ensure that Supreme Court rulings are followed in letter and spirit.
3. To ensure that city waste is not dumped near riverbeds and only at the requisite sites.
4. Take recourse to law if all else fails, by way of contempt, if there are existing rulings or by filing public interest litigations.

Does We Care have a workable plan to promote Ground Water Management and rain water harvesting ?

Yes, We Care does have a plan. The largest consumers of ground water are
1. Public through the Municipalities and Corporations
2. Farmers
3. Industry

The Municipalities and Corporations, probably exploit ground water the most. In some towns the municipalities pump ground water directly to the taps of the consumers, doing away with overhead storage tanks. Many house holds in poorer localities do not have taps – resulting in complete water wastage.
